This blog is a place where you can peak to my life behind the store. Great product finds for moms and children, tips from buying shoes to helping your child to start the school.. I also share my love to modern design, everything Finnish, and offer life wisdom beyond my years. (Really, someone told me than in a blog comment, I didn't make it up).


Skimbaco is like a description of our lifestyle. The weird name comes from a Finnish word "skimba", that means downhill skiing, and "co" is for Colorado, and even thought "skiing in Colorado" is just one fun thing to do with the family, we picked that for the name, since we happened to live in Durango, Colorado at the moment we started the company. "Whale watching in Cape Cod" might have done it for us, or "shopping in NYC", or "castle-hopping in Germany". Currently we reside in New York.

We like to enjoy life, see some world and have some fun together and with our kids. It all started over eleven years ago when our worlds collided. I'm from Finland, and my husband Matt is from Austin, Texas, so it must have been destiny.

We have lived in five different countries, and in seven states, and even our three children were all born in different countries! We love hanging out with our kids, and we still haven't had a babysitter (for the first 8,5 years). We are a multi-cultural, bi-lingual family, where everybody's passports are always current - never know what kind of adventure waits us. Matt is a helicopter pilot and I also work for the Family Wealth Planning Institute


Life is crazy, but we love it!
